Hi Greenock,
Welcome to Alba Owls mate.
As for your points we've not actually arranged a meet up as yet (apart from me and Joe Clash) but there is the opportunity come the 24th January when some Owlsonliners are heading up for a night out with Bully - check out the seperate thread above.
I've not actually seen anyone from Glasgow or surrounding but I'd imagine there'll be a few kicking around! |

| greenockowl - i'm on the west coast, so there may be the potential to meet enroute and car share, etc. Presumably you use the M6 (maybe a76 then m6)? cheers. |

Hi Solway,
Welcome to Alba Owls mate.
Don't know if you popped into the travel forum while you were here but Joe Clash (from Dundee) is definitely heading down for the Brum game on the 31st and there's a chance I could be with him.
If so we'll be crashing at The Garrison Hotel (www.garrisonhotel.co.uk) on Pennistone Road on the Saturday night and heading back on the Sunday.
Would it be too much hassle to get a train to Edinburgh for the trip? (If you fancied heading down obviously!) |

Hello Admin,
Thanks for the offer - very kind. Heading up to Edinburgh takes me about 1hr 45m (by car and then train), whereas i can drive to Sheffield in about 3.5 hours on a good day, so going up to Ed. in order to go back down to Sheff doesn't make a huge amount of sense - that said, i certainly don't rule it out in the future. We have a 6 week old in the house at the moment so i have to plan any trips well in advance.
Ironically i was 12 years in Ed. and used to drive down for games (and back the same day) frequently. I only ever met one other Wednesdayite, who was a PO at Saughton, but never got it together to go to a game with him.
I hope to make a game before the end of this season - perhaps i'll be able to organise something with the rest of the west coast contingent (greenock, and the bloke from carlisle) .
Greenock - i am near Dumfries, just along the coast a bit at Dalbeattie. In theory if you could get yourself to Lockerbie then i could pick you up and drive us down. Although i have relatives in Sheffield and could stay over i usually drive down and back on the same day. If you fancy a trip down before the end of the season then let me know (a few weeks notice would be good) and we'll see if we can arrange something.
cheers all. |

Solway,
Pity you're on the West Coast mate as both Joe Clash and myself normally make it a day trip when we go down.
We quite like getting the train primarily due to the amount of alcohol we can consume on the way down!
I'll keep trying to find a few more Owls who are based up here - I'd imagine there'll be a lot we've yet to uncover or who don't have or use the t'internet.
With a bit of luck we can get a few on either side of the country who are willing to car share for the jaunts south.
It's hard going though - we've been on the net for 6/7 months and there's only 8 of us as registered members on here although I did neglect the forum for a 3 month period!
I'll try and send out a weekly/bi-weekly email to everyone to hopefully get the few members on here to post a bit more often so regular contact is being made between us all thus making future trips easier to organise.
No doubt it'll take time but we'll persevere.
